About me

Hello I am Ruth Peers,

I am currently enrolled as a student in Animal Conservation Science at Ambleside, University of Cumbria. Presently, I am undertaking a sandwich placement with the Eco group, where our primary objective is to enhance the accessibility of the churchyard to both people and wildlife.

Having grown up in close proximity to the churchyard, I must admit that I rarely explored it due to its uneven terrain and overgrown state. Despite my passion for wildlife, my bird-watching activities typically gravitated towards the confines of my own garden, as the churchyard appeared to lack avian diversity based on my casual observations.

However, with the ongoing expansion of our town and the increasing significance of the churchyard as a habitat, I have come to recognize its growing importance for both wildlife and the local community. Through my active participation in the project, I have noted a discernible rise in wildlife presence, possibly due to previously unnoticed inhabitants or the success of specific initiatives we have implemented.

In essence, our collective efforts are aimed at transforming the churchyard from an uneven and overgrown space into a thriving environment that caters to the diverse needs of both human and non-human inhabitants.
